Our Philosophy

AT STEM PREP ...

“All of our students have the ability to achieve greatness. By giving our students the opportunity to engage in rigorous material at STEM Prep, we give them the opportunity to excel. Every day that I am able to spend working with our students is another day I’m amazed by them!”Rebecca Ledebuhr, Eighth-Grade Integrated Math Instructor

Since year one, STEM Prep has proved its place as one of the most effective and highest-achieving schools in Nashville. Our success is thanks to

A HOLISTIC EDUCATIONAL MODEL THAT ADDRESSES ALL ASPECTS OF A CHILD'S INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT AND PERSONAL WELL-BEING.

Inquiry-Based Learning

The ability to question, reason, and justify is critical to a student’s success in academics and in life. At STEM Prep, students are given multiple opportunities to address real-life problems with real-life solutions. At STEM Prep, we know that, in order to best prepare students for their futures, we must go beyond explicit language instruction, engaging students in self-directed, challenging, and authentic work.

Enrichment Opportunities

At STEM Prep, students are given the opportunity to explore their personal passions outside the classroom. Firmly rooted in the belief that the best schools provide learning experiences to educate the whole child, students at STEM Prep have opportunities to engage with a number of extracurricular activities: from Computer Programming, Creative Writing, and Music to Chess Club, Youth in Government, and Theater.

Rigorous Academic Curriculum and Frequent Progress Monitoring

It may seem like a no-brainer, but an academic curriculum that challenges every student is essential for high achievement. At STEM Prep, we use Common Core Standards as a starting point and not an end to our students’ academic advancement. In other words, students at all ability levels engage with material that is rigorous and exacting.
