COVID-19 Vaccinations at STEM Prep - October 7th

Metro Health Department will be providing COVID-19 vaccines for our community again on October 7th from 7am-10am. Anyone who is 12 years old or older can come get the vaccine. We will be giving first and second doses.

In order to reduce wait times, please click here to sign-up for an appointment time. If you are unsure of what time will work best for you, please come between 7am and 9am.

You will not need to provide personal identification (i.e., driver’s license). You do not need health insurance. The vaccine is free (no cost) and payment is not required. If this is your second dose, please be sure to bring your CDC card with you.

COVID-19 Policies and Protocols

STEM Prep will operate fully in-person for the 2021/2022 school year. For more information about the 2021/2022 school year, click here.

If your student is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, students may not report to school. If your student is awaiting results of a COVID-19 test, they also may not come to school.

Universal Health Screener

Overarching Policy: All students, staff, and external visitors will undergo daily health screening. The systems outlined below are applicable to those who are vaccinated and those who are not.

Students

PPE Check: Before students enter the building, staff will check to ensure students have their mask on (covering their nose and mouth).
Temperature Screening: Before entering the building, students have their temperature taken via a touchless thermometer. Importantly, there is no room for discretion or deviation from the following. The Health Team will have sole discretion regarding temperature irregularities and next steps.
- If the student’s temperature is below 100.4, the student may proceed.
- If the student’s temperature is 100.4 or higher on their forehead:
  - Take their temperature on their wrist. During the winter months, heat in cars may alter an initial temperature reading.
  - If the temperature is still 100.4+, direct the student to visit the nurse for further screening.
- Late Arrivals: The Front Office will ensure that all late arrivals undergo the process above before the parent/guardian leaves the building. Any temperature abnormalities will be reported immediately to the Health Team.

External Visitors

Health Screener. Front office staff will ask all external guests health screener questions and staff will enter in the responses for the visitor.
Temperature Check: Front office staff will take the visitor’s temperature. If the visitor’s temperature is 100.4 or higher:
- Take the visitor’s temperature on their wrist. During winter months, heat in cars may alter an initial temperature reading.
- If the temperature is still 100.4+, ask the visitor to exit the building, letting them know we will be in touch to reschedule the meeting. Inform the health team of the abnormality. Inform the other meeting participants of the need to reschedule.
PPE Check: If the external visitor reports being fully vaccinated, they will not be required to wear a mask. If the visitor is not fully vaccinated, they are required to wear a mask inside STEM Prep facilities at all times. If the visitor is a STEM Prep guardian and does not have a mask, one will be provided for them. If an external visitor, guardian or otherwise, fails to comply with the mask policy, they will be asked to leave the premises. Follow up will be conducted virtually by the School Director or other member of the leadership team.

Contact Tracing, Isolation, and Exposure

Overarching Policy: In collaboration with the Metro Health Department and Metro Nashville Public Schools, the STEM Prep Health Team will be conducting contact tracing regarding confirmed exposure to COVID-19. Note: All students regardless of vaccination status will need to quarantine due to exposure. If your student is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, your student should stay home from school and get tested.

Isolation: If a student becomes ill at school or is exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, they will immediately be referred to the school nurse. All isolation, quarantine, and testing decisions will be made at the sole discretion of the STEM Prep Health Team.

Close Contacts (Students): A student is considered a close contact if they are within three feet of the infected individual for a cumulative total of 15 minutes and one or both are not correctly wearing a mask

Mask Policy

Student Mask Policy (ALL Students, Regardless of Vaccination Status):

Inside the building: While inside STEM Prep buildings, all students will be required to wear a mask.
On the bus: While riding the bus, all students (regardless of vaccination status) are required to wear a mask.
Outside: If the rate of transmission in Davidson county is low to moderate, masks will not be required for any students outside. If the rate of transmission in Davidson county is substantial to high, masks will be required outdoors.

Staff Mask Policy:

Inside the building: Effective July 21, all staff members, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask at all times while occupying STEM Prep facilities. The only exceptions to this rule are while eating/drinking or if a staff member is the only individual in the room.
Outside: Masks are optional outdoors, but highly encouraged for non-vaccinated staff members.

External Visitor Mask Policy: All visitors will be required to wear a mask inside STEM Prep facilities at all times. If the visitor is a STEM Prep guardian and does not have a mask, one will be provided for them.

Handwashing and Respiratory Etiquette

Overarching Policy: Studies have shown that rigorous and frequent handwashing and appropriate respiratory techniques (covering one’s mouth and nose while sneezing, etc.) decreases the chances of transmission.

Hand Sanitizing Breaks: Students will be given frequent hand sanitizing breaks. Students will be required to either wash their hands with soap and water (for at least 20 seconds) or use hand sanitizer (with at least 60% alcohol content). At minimum, students will sanitize their hands: a) upon entering a classroom, b) before and after meals, c) if they sneeze or cough without a mask (ex. during lunch).

Respiratory Etiquette: If a student or staff member sneezes or coughs without their mask on (such as when they are eating lunch), they should cover their nose and mouth with a tissue if possible. They must wash their hands or use hand sanitizer immediately after coughing/sneezing.

Ventilation

Ventilation: The ventilation systems at both the Middle and High School have been updated in accordance with CDC guidelines. All staff are required to leave ventilation units running at all times in their classroom and office spaces.

Physical Distancing

Overarching Policy: In an effort to decrease the potential for transmission, STEM Prep will make every effort to allow for physical distancing among students, among staff, and between staff and students. Where possible, student desks will be placed at least three feet apart.

Cleaning and Maintaining Healthy Facilities

Overarching Policy: In addition to personal practices, the STEM Prep facilities will be rigorously sanitized on a daily basis. All sanitation protocols, as outlined below, meet or exceed CDC guidelines.

Cleaning: The SFM custodial staff will sanitize high-traffic areas of the school during the day. At night, a deep clean will be performed across the whole school. Should staff members choose, they can use materials provided to disinfect frequently used spaces in their classrooms or offices in addition to the sanitation by the SFM staff.

Water Systems: Students will be encouraged to bring a water bottle, decreasing the need for individual trips to the drinking fountain during the day.

Evaluador de Salud Universal

Política de Máscaras

Política de máscaras para estudiantes (TODOS los estudiantes, independientemente del estado de vacunación):

Ventilación

سياسة الكمامة
